Is Bernie Mac Dead?

Is Bernie Mac dead? Rumors have been circulating about the comedian's death since he was admitted to a hospital last week suffering from pneumonia, but his rep insists that Mac is very much alive.
It must be disturbing for family members to hear rumors of a loved one's death, but glad to hear Bernie's still alive. We wish him a speedy recovery!

Minimizing XP SP3 Update woes
I’m getting sporadic reports of Windows XP users having problems installing XP SP3 on some systems. Here are some tips to help make the install process a little smoother, and to be honest im one of those people.
I have actually upgraded to SP3 and un-updated 2 times. I sure need a fix, but maybe the following helpful ideas is as close as I will get.
Disable AV software
It seems that some antivirus (AV) software causes the SP3 install to hang, while the installer seems fine with others. Disable AV software before beginning the install process.
Uninstall beta/RC versions of SP3
It’s a good idea to get rid of these earlier versions. If you’re having problems removing them, try ininstalling previous versions through Safe Mode.
Uninstall IE8
SP3 won’t play nicely on systems that have IE8 installed.
Update drivers
Might help, especially if your system is running really old drivers.
Disable unnecessary startup applications
It’s not just AV software that can cause SP3 problems. If you’re having problems getting SP3 to install then disabling as many unnecessary startup applications as you can might help.
Possible solution to endless reboots
Windows blogger Jesper Johansson offers some advice for thiose suffering endless reboots when trying to install SP3.
If you are getting any of the following errors then this page on the Microsoft KnowledgeBase site might help:

Open source application security lacking?
Dana Blankenhorn: This should be the chief open source challenge for the next year, because if application security is not addressed, it's hard to see much more progress coming in the enterprise market. more...saved for my next post since its from a diff source.
But is this the bottom line, a sortof cure, or a race for even a hint of a realistic and successful approach?

Comic actor Harvey Korman dies at 81

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Comic actor Harvey Korman has died at 81.
He made dozens of appearances in other television shows and movies during his lengthy show-business career, including providing voices for several animated productions. Among those was The Great Gazoo, a helmeted space man who even appeared in some episodes of "The Flintstones."
Korman landed some sketch work on "The Red Skelton Show" in 1961, followed by a four-year stint on "The Danny Kaye Show," which led to his joining Carol Burnett in 1967.
Korman was a regular on "The Carol Burnett Show" from 1967 through 1978, for which he won Emmy awards in 1969, 1971, 1972 and 1974. He also won a Golden Globe for his work on the series.
The lanky Korman also appeared in Mel Brooks' "Blazing Saddles" (as the sneering Hedley Lamarr), "High Anxiety" and "History of the World, Part 1."
You could get rock-solid comedy out of him. He could lift the material. He always made it real, always made it work, always believed in characters he was doing.
In my opinion, Harvey WAS Comedy.

UltimateDefrag Freeware Edition
UltimateDefrag is revolutionary defrag software that not only lets you defrag, but also considers a more important phenomenon, and that is, the placement of files and folders on your hard drive.
With UltimateDefrag you can place the files you want the best performance from onto the faster areas of your hard drive and also get all of your unused data right out of the way and repositioned onto the slower areas of your hard drive in order to make way for the data that you want to place in the “hot” sections of your hard drive where performance is greatest.
Download it now from this page. I would suggest grabbing the UltimateDefragFREE.zip file down at the bottom of the page.
Try it out, and share it with your friends. But be sure you know a bit about what your doing.

Beware your license plates!
A woman said her son found his license plate missing so he called the police to file a report. They told him people were stealing the plates to get free gas. Given the rise in gas prices, people have taken to stealing license plates, putting them on their car, then getting gas and running. The gas station will have 'your' license plate # and you could be in trouble for 'pump and run.' Check your car periodically to be sure you still have a plate. If you should find it missing, file a report immediately!!! Keep an eye on your license plate! Make sure you always know it's there! When the license plate is reported as the 'drive off vehicle', it's YOU they contact! Be aware!!!! Be aware of your license plates, most of us never look to see if the plates are there or not.

Yaa it's just what the Title says. You can Flip your text and send it on to one of your friends.

Pal 9.0 and Weather to Upgrade to 9.1 Beta
Ok folks I have researched and tested for myself first thought horrible Paltalk update above 8.5 with horrid findings, but now we have quickly been delivered pal 9.1 Beta which fixed most all of my complaints about the way too early release of 9.0.
I have also become willing to admit as any tester should that I had alot to learn and put up with in learnin the new versions. Now that we have that confession put to rest we can being to address yet another issue that I have not been able to get around.
I did learn how to avoid my problems with 9.0 and got myself tuned up really so I could help out in any given situation quickly and with tunes ready.
But now that I have 9.0 tuned up to play tunes, 9.1 beta has come along and will not play my tunes worth listening to. I have both versions, 1 on each computer we have in this room I call MINE, and cannot for the life of me get 9.1 to tunee up and sound good on another computer.
Well Im going to have to just be patient and work with what paltalk delivers to us and see if I can figure out enough about the new input tunings through the soundcard so I can better assist others so they will also have the enjoyment of spinning tunes when the need arises, and with paltalk being so unstable that time will surely come along sooner than later.
I will post more on Paltalks newer releases in the days/weeks to come and maybe be of assitance to others that dont have the available time to cross the bridges without things running smoothly.
Im still blaming Pal for most of the headaches we have lived with in recent months, but they do have a fine produce at a reasonable price per year, and being a mute I love being able to chat with just about anyone in orde to maintain my sanity in the world I live in.
ok guys, good luck and happy ramblings.

Paltalk 9.0 - To Upgrade or Not
(ok, I am a Paltalk Buff, if interested please read on further to best determine which release version you would be best to utilize. I would suggest 8.5 or 9.0. There is alot of basic information to read here, but the main points are Bolded for easy viewing, along with a nice general set of comments at the end.)
Paltalk, The World's Most Popular Online Video Chat Service.
Launch Announces Release of Next Generation of Popular Software Paltalk 9.0 and Re-launch of Web-Based Video Conferencing Service HearMe Chats to Feature Well-Known Value Investor.
By BusinessWire
NEW YORK, BUSINESS WIRE -- Paltalk, the world's largest online video chat community with more than four million active members, today announced it will be hosting a series of celebrity chats on December 6 and 7, 2006 to celebrate the release of the next generation of its popular communication software Paltalk 9.0 and the HearMe conference service. The Huffington Post founder Arianna Huffington, XM Satellite Radio shock jock Anthony of Opie & Anthony, professional matchmaker, relationship guru and author Samantha Daniels, well-known value investor Whitney Tilson and syndicated gossip columnist Flo Anthony will be hosting live chats free to the public. Capitol Records will be the launch's exclusive provider of music celebrities including former Destiny's Child member and Grammy(R) Award winner LeToya Luckett and popular saxophonist Dave Koz.
Paltalk uses patented technology to allow users to communicate through video, voice and text in chat rooms they create and can hold thousands of people. The program has become one of the most popular online services with more than 50 million downloads accounting for eight billion voice minutes per year. Paltalk answers the demands of users who crave a way to communicate beyond the text and one-to-one discussions offered on most online communication programs. For an overview of the launch event, including a full list of participants, visit www.paltalk.com/launch.
"Our online launch for Paltalk 9.0 and HearMe is the biggest event in our company's history and we feel privileged that so many influential personalities from such diverse fields are coming together to celebrate Paltalk," said Joel Smernoff, President and COO, Paltalk. "Paltalk's user base of more than 4 million people is a testament to the popularity of our program and how it is helping people all over the world change the way they communicate online."
New York-based Paltalk was founded over 8 years ago and survived the first Internet bubble, becoming a profitable company by offering quality communication products for personal and professional use. Paltalk was the first company to launch an Instant Messenger with video and voice capability combined with an online buddy list.
Paltalk Launch Event:
With more than four million active members around the world, people are using the Paltalk Messenger to socialize, talk politics, pick stocks, learn languages and even sing karaoke. Everyone from CBS' Big Brother reality series to best-selling author Dan Burstein have used Paltalk to hold group discussions online. For the launch event on December 6th and 7th Paltalk has assembled some of the most influential personalities in the fields of politics, entertainment, finance, radio and more. Chat participants include:
Blah blah blah…
-- Arianna Huffington - founder of popular political blog The Huffington Post
-- Anthony Cumia of Opie & Anthony - radio shock jock who appears on XM Satellite Radio and CBS Radio
-- Whitney Tilson - well known value investor who founded and co-manages the T2 Partners hedge fund and Tilson Mutual Funds
-- Samantha Daniels - professional matchmaker, relationship guru and author of Matchbook: The Diary of a Modern Day Matchmaker
-- LeToya Luckett - Grammy(R) Award winning singer and former member of Destiny's Child
-- Flo Anthony - nationally syndicated, urban entertainment gossip columnist
-- Rod Murray - host of Voice of America Hip-Hop Connection program which reaches 30 million listeners worldwide
-- Dave Koz - popular Grammy(R) nominated jazz saxophonist
-- J. Holiday - up-and-coming soul singer who will be performing his hit Rodney Jerkins-produced single "Be With Me" live
-- Curtis Sliwa - founder of the Guardian Angels
-- Kenny Kramer - the real life inspiration for Michael Richards' character Cosmo Kramer on the hit series Seinfeld
The launch chats are free and open to the public. Users simply have to visit www.paltalk.com beginning December 6th to download Paltalk 9.0 and go to the "Paltalk 9.0 Launch Event" room to join in and talk to the guests live.
Paltalk and HearMe (whatever the fuk HearMe is? I am looking into this though!)
Paltalk's features gives users the ability to be seen and heard through live, real-time video in chat rooms that use patented technology to allow thousands of people to hold simultaneous discussions. Users create their own chat rooms on topics they choose where room members not only communicate with the host but with each other as well. Paltalk 9.0 includes new features such as Super IM (big deal, you save 1 room create step!), a patented function that allows users to pull in up to nine friends (only nine, hell get a room!) from around the world into one Instant Messenger window for a live video and voice chat session. Paltalk 9.0 also features enhanced video to near broadcast-level quality (just like 8.5!), full duplex audio (now this is one good thing if your tuned up properly!), multi-player gaming (now this could be fun…but has little to do with the main points im making) and music provided through a special partnership with Real Rhapsody. (Hmm, not sure bout this Rhapsody thing) The Paltalk community takes great care in keeping a safe, "clean and well-lit" environment with more than 250 trained volunteer moderators.
Paltalk is also re-launching the popular HearMe service, the next generation of browser based video conferencing. Geared towards small businesses looking to cut down costs, HearMe allows users to hold online meetings at a low price and eliminates expensive travel and long distance phone charges. An easy to use web-based application, with no program needed to download, it allows people to communicate in real time through video, voice and text directly from their computer and share their documents or their entire desktop. HearMe meetings are held in a safe and secure web environment with CD-quality sound (now this sounds good, as long as your audio tuning is setup and tuned well) and live, TV-quality video (a green nick and a nice cam 8.5 will already do for this).
About Paltalk
Paltalk www.paltalk.com is the largest video chat community on the Internet with over four million active members participating in live voice- and video-enabled chat rooms. Our patented technology allows thousands of simultaneous users to communicate via video and audio all in the same chat room. The Paltalk Messenger is compatible with leading instant messaging (IM) services, allowing users to transfer existing buddy lists, combine all their contacts, and talk to friends who use other IM programs. Founded in 1998, Paltalk is a privately held company based in New York. Paltalk also owns and operates HearMe (www.hearme.com), a B2B Web conferencing service. Paltalk was the first company to launch video and voice combined with an online buddy list in one package.

(my additional comments)
Now excuse me but I don’t see the huge need for upgrading from Paltalk 8.5 to Paltalk 9.0, mostly because of all of the beta problems that were never fixed, and also the instability I constantly see and hear about.
The new features except for a little audio and video, but not much, are about all there is.
IMO they released a BETA version and way too early also.
But if it works for you, then be happy and enjoy, but I don’t see any improvements that are anywhere near worth the instability risks here. But this is merely my opinion…so do what u will and as always, I wish you the best of luck. Do load it up and try it, unless you dont know how to fully uninstall it, else facing yet another problem.
But for now, until they come up with some ‘real improvements and no loss in stability, then Paltalk 8.5 is my choice.
Don’t get me wrong though folks, Pal is a great tool and I intend to have it on my system and use it daily. I have no vocal abilities, so this tool has indeed saved my mental well-being, because I cannot talk...but I can type, and the cam quality is nice. All for mere pennies per day if paid by the year!!! Paltalk is indeed a very fine tool in my opinion!
I look forward to seeing you on Paltalk one day. I run under the Nick name of Pictureit1_1

What Ever Happened To...
Hey,
Years ago, and not that many years ago, we had problems with Blacks, Mexicans, White Trash and all kinds of people. Drownin kids in the bathtub and all sorts of crazy shit.
So now, since the bombing, we concentrate on the Towel-Heads. Hearing of a killin of one of them son's of bitches is almost reason for a BBQ and a Keg Party! haha, you can tell I'm from Texas!
So the towel heads have taken alot of pressure off of our past problems...and did those problems slow down, or have we just imagined that the rest of our crazed world is better now.
Just something to ponder folks. And I'm not pointing finger(s).
I have more ideas for postings, but have been busy and havent been sleeping much. Damned medications and all that shit.
See y'all later,

HiDeHo
In the words of Marvin Gaye, "Whats going on"?
Hope your world is going well. Mine has its up and downs, and good and bads, but there is a reason for that, so we wont dwell on that today...
My Hankey sais Hello. I saw him this morning as I do every day.
Hey, I watched a movie that is newly released. Neil Young's Heart of Gold movie. It has very little about his past, the good and the bad. It really gets right down to some music playing for well over an hour. Youd be surprised at the amounts, and lack of amounts of musicians and singers that went into his songs. Sometimes few, sometimes Alot! It was staged at the Opry House. He is getting up in age now, as we all are. But he is still talented.
I dont have alot to enlighten you all with today but im thinking of a few things. And be sure not to ever get offended by anything I post here...its all fun and games. Except for me being fukd up, its all make believe.

My Friend in France is a Movie Star
I have a dear friend that I have know since my teens and he now lives in France. He works for the French Government, among the past many other highly respectable jobs he has had while living in France. Eric is a very well educated Man, and I have the same respect for his Parents who did such a great job of tending to his values of knowledge and education...the arts!
Anyway back in In 1987, he played the role of an American lieutenant in a French movie WW-2. I thought it appropriate for me to respectfully post a snapshot of him in full gear on the Blog.
